I turn 60 this year.
Not reluctantly. Not quietly. Reflectively.
In the Chinese zodiac, 1966 was the Year of the Fire Horse — a bold, independent, visionary archetype that returns every 60 years. 2026 marks a full energetic cycle. Completion. Reset. Rebirth.
And instead of throwing the big celebration I thought I “should,” I paused.
I asked myself:
What would I tell my 16-year-old self if I knew then what I know now?
This episode of The Stay Juicy Podcast is deeply personal — but it’s also universal.
Because midlife is the archetype of the Fire Horse.
It’s when you stop shrinking.
It’s when you stop proving.
It’s when you stop negotiating your fire.
And you begin leading from essence instead of performance.
1. Nothing Is Personal
What people think about you is none of your business.
Projection is real. Approval addiction is exhausting. The moment you stop curating how others see you is the moment you become powerful.
2. Trust Your Gut
The voice you keep overriding? That’s your wisdom.
Most of our regret isn’t from making the wrong decision.
It’s from not trusting ourselves the first time.
3. Stop Shrinking
You were never “too much.”
You were just in rooms that required smaller versions of you.
Midlife strips away tolerance for nonsense. It sharpens you. And that sharpness is clarity.
4. Believe in Magic
You are a manifestor.
Manifestation isn’t delusion — it’s embodiment.
You must become the vibration of what you want before you see it physically.
I’ve done it. I’m doing it again with my second book.
5. Believe Patterns, Not Words
When people show you who they are, believe them.
Confusion is data.
Behavior is truth.
6. Ask for Help
Strength is not self-sufficiency.
Midlife taught me collaboration is power.
Support accelerates growth.
7. You Are Beautiful
Beauty is not youth.
Beauty is alignment.
Beauty is sovereignty.
Beauty is self-acceptance.
At 60, I am more beautiful than I was at 16 — because now I know it.
8. Write Your Own Script
The world hands women a timeline.
Graduate. Marry. Have children. Be ambitious but not threatening.
Midlife is where you reclaim authorship.
9. Pleasure Is Power
Pleasure regulates your nervous system.
Pleasure increases creativity.
Pleasure builds self-trust.
Your body is sacred.
Your attention is currency.
Access is earned.
10. Respect Your Energy
Energy is data.
You read rooms before anyone speaks.
That intuitive hit is information.
Trust it.
11. Discipline Is Freedom
Energy without discipline is chaos.
Discipline is self-respect.
Discipline is love in action.
Discipline protects your future.
12. Understand Your Hormones
Your hormones shape:
- Mood
- Libido
- Anxiety
- Ambition
- Sleep
- Confidence
- Tolerance for nonsense
If you don’t understand your biology, you will think something is wrong with you.
Midlife isn’t decline.
It’s refinement.
60 Is Not the End. It’s the Beginning.
At 16, I tried to contain the fire.
At 60, I understand the fire is the point.
Your power is immeasurable.
And midlife might just be your most embodied season yet.
